August WIPocalypse update

It's time for the WIPocalypse SAL update!  I really do want to finish all my starts (some day), but I'm still enjoying stitching everything.  You can see current pics of all of my WIPs on my WIPocalypse page.  Check in on Measi's blog with your WIPocalypse update, too!  This month the theme is Designer - Long Dog, Project Theme - Smalls, and Focus Colors - Blue and Red.

I don't have any charts by Long Dog, but I have some smalls to work on, and some blue and red stitching, too.

Here's a brand new start and finish!  I made this bookmark for my daughter, who knows some French but wants to learn more.  "J'aime lire" means "I love to read." This is a freebie from a French blog, Les petits bonheurs de Miss T (The Simple Pleasures of Miss T).

I stitched more blue on Red Cat, a freebie from Cross-Stitchers-Club (I think the website died), using Victoria Clayton silk HDF on 28 ct antique white Jobelan.  I think the color is Aquamarine.  This is for a cat quilt by World of Charity Stitching.

I stitched more dark red on Santa Hang-Up.  This is a SAL with Linda.

Picnic Area by The Prairie Schooler has more border stitched.

I started stitching the spooky tree on Halloween House.  You can also buy this chart in PDF download HERE on Crosstitch.com, so you can have it instantly and not have to worry about postage!  Linda finished hers and Joyce and I are close behind!
Halloween House update #39
I posted a pic of my Cut Thru' Igloo progress on the Cut Thru' SAL page and the Facebook group last week but not in a blog post.  I finished the snow on the left side under the penguin and more water.  I think this will be done in a few more weeks. Then I'll start stitching on my Cut Thru' North Pole House or Pirate Ship next.

Happy Happy Stitching, everyone!

Hurray!  I actually finished something early and didn't wait until the last minute! I made these two bookmarks for Mother's Day gifts.  The pattern is a freebie from Linen Flowers.

Two new bookmark starts!

Last night I started stitching two Names of Jesus bookmarks for Mother's Day gifts!  This is a free chart from Linen Flowers.  I'm using variegated floss, pink Anchor 1207 and blue DMC 93, and premade Stitch-n-Mark bookmarks with Cluny lace and ribbon by Jeanette Crews Designs.  I will put white felt on the back.

I think I'll finish these up tonight!  Happy Wednesday stitching, everyone!

The frog finally found me!

Arrrgh!  This supposedly simple bookmark has been such a challenge!  I started it in February and finally got back to it now, since I'm sending several bookmarks to my friend's nieces as back-to-school gifts. This free chart is from Lady Kell of Kincavel.

I seemed to have a good start the first day:
Then I was happily stitching away (and watching TV at the same time) and somehow missed an entire letter! Oops! My daughter thought it was so funny that she told me to take a picture before I fixed it.
Then I was making great progress on the flower border, but noticed that I was one stitch too low, so I carefully ripped out 20 stitches to fix the problem (circled in pink).
I re-stitched that part, one stitch higher (circled in pink), but THEN I noticed that I had left a space, one stitch over to the right (circled in green).  Bummer!
So I ripped out all those stitches back to that point, and not so carefully this time!  See all my shreds of floss in the glass star shaped ORT dish.
Hands Off My Book - update #1
I hope that frog is done with me now and finds his way to someone else instead!  Wish me luck to get this bookmark finished without any more rip-rip-ripping!

Halloween House update and two bookmarks!

Halloween House update #20
I finally started on the second floor.  Most of the other stitchers in our SAL started with the second floor first.  Check out their progress HERE.  One person has already finished!

My son gave me the Twisted Stitches cross stitch book.  The first thing I stitched was this bookmark, which will be a gift for my friend's niece.

I also got back to this Spooky bookmark, which was one of my Super Duper Ultimate Crazy February Challenge starts.  Linda and I had new starts every day in January and February (it was all her idea!).  I will give this bookmark to my friend's other niece.

I found this free design on a Hungarian blog, amintkipattan.  Barbi has lots of cute free charts!

Happy Stitching, everyone!

Day #20 - Monkey Read, Monkey Do

Day #20 of my Ultimate Crazy January Challenge is a bookmark called Monkey Read, Monkey Do.  I bought this pattern online from Funk & Weber Designs.  It will look like the Barrel of Monkeys toy with lots of bright colors.

Here is my little bit of progress on Halloween House on Friday.  I finished stitching the black witch in the doorway.

The reason that I didn't get a lot of stitching done was because I was gone all day on Friday at the J. Paul Getty Museum.  I saw lots of art including this amazing picture from 1390 (622 years old)!  The first thing I thought was how fun this would be to cross stitch!
