TUSAL #8

Time for another TUSAL update of my ORT jar! All the layers bring back memories of my stitching projects this year, like layers of rock sediment for an archaeologist! LoL!!!

A Paris Kiss update #8

Look who's finally kissing! The woman's face is done, and I'll be stitching her hair next. I think I've passed the halfway point. I'm really happy with how it looks!

Traveling Stash!

I was chosen by Beth to receive the box of Traveling Stash!  This is a box of cross stitch goodies that travels (US only) from stitcher to stitcher.  The only rules are, that you look through the box of stash, take anything you like, and replace the same number of things you kept, or even more.  Then have a drawing on your blog to pass it on to the next stitcher.  I just sent Beth my snail mail address, so when I get the box, I'll pick out a few things and add some more before sending it on its way. Beth says that the box currently has charts, fabric, floss, and small kits.  I can't wait to see it all!

If you want a chance to be the next recipient of the Traveling Stash box, please leave a comment here.  I will choose a winner on Friday, August 5, so that should be enough time for the box to get here from Beth.  I already have some items that I want to add to it.  Good luck!

Starry Snowman ornament - finished!

This is another ornament from my Crazy January Challenge. I love how the kit came with the little plastic frame, but it sure was a pain to have 1/4 stitches on 18ct Aida!

My daughter just told me that she's going to Las Vegas this weekend, so the first thing I thought of was that I can get more stitching done on A Paris Kiss. It is a gift for her birthday in August. Now I'm counting down the days, 24 to go, but I should finish a week before so I can have it framed. Wish me luck!

Organizing my floss stash!

I finally put all my DMC floss in numerical order in individual Ziploc baggies in a nice wooden box.  It was all thrown into a plastic bag before tonight!  I also printed a list of DMC colors and marked off the ones that I have.  But what took me the longest time was converting all my off-brand floss to DMC numbers.  I had a big gallon-size Ziploc bag full of old floss from Bucilla, Lily, Brilliante D'Alger, Royal Moulon, Peri-Lusta, American Thread, and JP Coats.  It was certainly an adventure searching for floss conversions and making a lot of guesses.  I'm looking forward to using these oddball colors in small projects where it doesn't really matter if the color is perfect.  Most of the cross stitch I do is in kits, and I've just started to use charts and my own floss.  Now I feel so organized and relieved to have that out of the way, even though I missed a whole day of stitching today!

Santa ornament - finished!

I finished this Santa ornament tonight. It was stitched on plastic canvas. One of my cats got to it and chewed up the star, which I fixed by adding a little piece of plastic canvas that I cut from the corner. Now I can mark one more finished from my Crazy January Challenge.

Now I'll be trying to finish A Paris Kiss before my daughter's birthday on August 19, and also start a 50th anniversary cross stitch for my parents' anniversary on August 31. I seem to stitch must faster when I have a deadline!

My QR code

I saw this website about QR codes and decided to play along!  I made up a QR code at www.qrstuff.com and stitched it up tonight.  You can scan it with a bar code reader on your smartphone, and it will direct you to my cross stitch blog.  How fun!

WOCS - Raccoon - finished!

I stitched these adorable raccoons for World of Charity Stitching. They chose animal patterns from The Floss Box to decorate tote bags for children who are staying at a domestic violence shelter.  Now I can send in my hippo and raccoon, and someone will sew them onto tote bags!

WOCS - Raccoon - new start

I started this little raccoon square from The Floss Box for World of Charity Stitching. I also finished the hippo in May. There will be two cute raccoon faces on it. The designs will be sewn onto tote bags for children at a domestic violence shelter.

You can also see that I'm using another one of my new Q-Snap huggies in a zebra print!

I plan to finish this in one or two days, and then I can get started on a 50th wedding anniversary gift for my parents. Happy Stitching!

A Paris Kiss update #7

I'm finally making some good progress! I'm almost done stitching the man, just a little bit in the corner and his hand. Then I'm going back to the top to stitch the woman's head.

You can also see one of the Q-Snap huggies that I bought from Christine. It has cats all over it and is very comfortable to hold. I'm using these on all my projects now!

More Q-Snap huggies!

I was so happy with my first order from Christine's Q-Snap Huggies that I ordered more! She has new bright floral fabric that I just love and can't wait to use it. Now you'll be seeing these Q-Snap huggies on all my stitching update photos!

TUSAL #7

My little jar of ORTs hasn't changed much, since I hardly stitched last month. But now I have 3 deadlines coming up, so I plan to get my needle busy! Thanks to Daffycat for hosting this TUSAL! Happy Stitching!
