Final WIPocalypse update of 2013

The apocalypse didn't happen on December 21, 2012, after all, so we still have time to finish all of our Works in Progress (WIPs).  I started 2013 with 49 WIPs and added 31 new starts in the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge by starting a new project every day in January.  Then I started 12 more during the year.  I had 29 finishes this year.  You can see them all on my Finishes 2013 page, but here are some of my framed finishes:

Here is one more that I finished this year and just got it framed in this wooden box that I found at a thrift store.  It fits perfectly!  This is The Bear and the Bees by The Prairie Schooler.

I also made progress on some big designs this year.

Boo! Club by Lizzie*Kate started in January with just one part finished:
Now 7 out of 12 parts are finished:

I finished one full shelf of "99" by Ink Circles, only 8 more to go!

Universal Unity looked like this back in January:
and looks like this now:

I didn't finish Quoth the Raven in time to get it framed for Christmas, but it can be a January present instead!
Quoth the Raven update #7
I also just posted my choices for the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge 2014.  I'll start a new one every day in January.  Then I'll have an even 100 on my WIPocalypse list. I wonder how many I'll finish in 2014!

I also posted a page for my Turtle Trot SAL choices for 2014.  I will try to make progress on these WIPs during the year and post updates on the 10th of each month.  You can sign up HERE.

Happy Stitching, everyone!

April ornament and WIPocalypse update!

I'm in the 2013 Ornament SAL, where we stitch a new ornament each month for any holiday.  My April ornament is C'est Noel, a freebie from The Sampler Girl. I used DMC Light Effects and DMC Satin floss (so slippery!).  One of these days I'll try to make these finishes into actual ornaments!

I'm also in a new SAL for Bothy Threads Cut Thru' designs.  I stitch the Igloo on Mondays.  When this is finished, I'll keep going and stitch another Cut Thru' from my WIP list, North Pole House and/or Pirate Ship.

Two new SAL starts and a finish!

I started Thankful Critters during the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge last year, but haven't touched it since the first day.  Now Linda and I will be stitching on it every other weekend.  I hope to finish it in time to display for Thanksgiving!  I finished the chipmunk and the letter "A" with nuts.

March ornament and WIPocalypse update

I'm in the 2013 Ornament SAL, where we stitch a new ornament each month for any holiday.  My March ornament is Boule Bordeaux, a freebie from a French blog, Le blog de Vava.  I used DMC gold metallic 5282 and a red/pink variegated J&P Coats floss.  This is stitched on perforated paper with red felt on the back.  It is about 4" x 5".

On the monthly Prairie Schooler designs, I've been stitching the eagle for July. He is patiently waiting for his wings.  This will be done soon, and then I'll start the August square.

Stitching bears!

Linda and I have a new Monday SAL, The Bear and the Bees by The Prairie Schooler. We started this last February 2012 and haven't touched it again until now.  I stitched the bees last year and now I'm starting on the bear.
The Bear and the Bees update #1
I've also been stitching on some other WIPs with bears.  I started Bear Hug in 1988, when I bought the kit at a Creative Circle home party.  I'm going to donate this to World of Charity Stitching and they can sew it onto a pillow or tote bag.  It's a great charity to stitch for, since you don't have to wait for a quilt theme to stitch something.  They make all kinds of things with cross stitch designs.  I finished stitching the bears and now all that is left is the border.  It will be great to get this old one finished!
Bear Hug update #2
Picnic Area by The Prairie Schooler was started in the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge this year.  I stitched two more letters and started stitching a bear. There will be bears on both sides, and a fox chasing a rabbit on the bottom.
Picnic Area update #1
Bear in the Janlynn Wildlife Series was another start in the UCJC this year.  He got the rest of his nose done but still only has one eye!  I have other kits from this series that I will stitch some day.
Bear update #1
This was fun to have a "bear" theme on my blog post today.  I have more ideas for future blog post themes by grouping some of my WIPs together.  Happy Stitching, everyone!

Days #36-#38 and SAL updates!

Linda and I have a Monday snowman SAL.  I have Mr. Mittens and she has Snow Pals.  We have been stitching a little every Monday and finally posted an update pic.

For our Wednesday SAL, I have BBQ Queen and Linda has Lady Liberty, both by Diane Arthurs.

Day #36 is The Bear and the Bees by Prairie Schooler.  Linda also started the same chart, but she stitched the bear and I stitched the bees!  I am using 14 ct Fiddler's cloth.

Day #37 is Hands Off My Book, a bookmark designed by Lady Kell of Kincavel.  This is a free chart from her blog.  I am using variegated purple floss on an 18 ct ivory Aida bookmark.

Day #38 is All's Good in the 'Hood, also designed by Lady Kell of Kincavel.  This one was not a freebie, and I bought this chart from Kincavel Krosses.  I am using variegated dark red floss on 14 ct Dirty Aida.  This will be a gift for my son.  I think it will look great in his house, instead of the usual "Home Sweet Home" sampler!
