Cactus, Cherry, and BBQ Queen progress!

These three projects are coming right along!  The Christmas Cactus is waiting for the Christmas lights.
Christmas Cactus update #3
One of the cherries is coming to life.  Does it look real from a distance?
WOCS - Cherry update #2
I have started stitching the flag that says "Summer" on BBQ Queen.  There is still a lot of backstitching to do.
BBQ Queen update #20
Here is a peek into my everyday work situation!  I work at home on the company computer on the right, and my personal computer is on the left.  There is always a furbaby within arm's reach!
Billy, Blueberrie, and Bubbles
Bubbles, Billy, and Teddy
Sophie under the desk

Teddy under the desk
Billy on my lap when I'm typing!
The brown tabby cat is Billy, 5 years old, the black and white tuxedo cat is Blueberrie, 9 years old, and the calico cat is Bubbles, 10 years old.  Teddy the Labrador Retriever/Mastiff mix is 2 years old.  Sophie the German Shepherd/Shetland Sheepdog is 10 years old and very camera shy.  She is best buddies with Billy the cat.  I wish I could get a picture of them playing together, but she always takes off when she sees the camera!

Congrats on the win. Love the pics of the furbabies. How many typing oops does Billy create. lol Great progress on all your pieces as always. You can't work on BBQ anymore until I catch up. Not sure about the colors in the cherry. I sure do love looking at your updates.

So, I'm really new to cross stitching. What's the plastic thing on Cherry and the cloth thing on BBQ Queen? It looks like a good alternative to using a hoop?

I love your blog sooooo much, and all of your work is gorgeous. I've been secretly stalking you for weeks. (Not creepy at all, eh?)

And the picture of Sophie sitting in the cat bed is adorable. She looks a little like Dug, from Up, in that picture. :D

Hi Katie,
The white plastic thing is called a Q-Snap. It is like plastic PVC pipe with clamps that come in different sizes. I love using these because you don't have to move them around as much like when using a hoop. You can buy them at Michael's or online from JoAnn's or 123Stitch.com which has everything for cross stitch. The fabric is called a Q-Snap huggie or cover. I can roll up the extra stitching fabric and tuck it in. It also protects the edges of your piece from getting dirty. I bought them from www.qsnaphuggies.com

Happy Stitching!

Thanks so much for the information!! :) I'm definitely going to save some of my poor college student earnings for a Q-Snap and huggie, this sounds much handier than a hoop.
