Another finish, a new start, and giveaway winner!

I finished Red Cat, which was a free design from Cross-Stitchers-Club.  This will be donated to World of Charity Stitching to be sewn onto a cat-themed quilt.  I used Victoria Clayton silk HDF in Aquamarine.  It is stitched on 28 ct antique white Jobelan.

My new start is Mary's Sampler II, a free Mystery Sampler from Plum Street Samplers.  There are 9 parts, one each Sunday.  I am stitching on 18 ct Fiddlers cloth light.  The finished size will be about 5.5" square.

Remember, tomorrow (October 1), part 2 of the Jardin Privé sampler, La Pensée Positive, will be available!  She has also made charts in Spanish and Italian versions, and is working on a German version, too!  All PDF files are free on Les Marottes de Nathalie

The winner of the Cut Thru' Igloo chart is..... Debbie Daniels!  She has noreply-comment and no blog, so if she doesn't respond by next Sunday, October 6, I'll choose another name.  (I found her on Facebook after all!)

Blogger Debbie Daniels said...
Since I am a Debbie also, and live in Alaska, (in an igloo of course!) I think you should pick me :-). You did a lovely job on this

A very old UFO is finished and I'm a winner!

I bought the kit for Bear Hug at a Creative Circle needlecraft home party waaaaaaay back in 1988 (25 years ago!) and guess what?!  I finally finished it! This will be donated to World of Charity Stitching so they can sew it to a pillow or walker bag or tote bag.

I did the backstitching on the two windows and the roof of Halloween House.
Halloween House update #29
I pulled out one of my starts from last year to use for the 2013 Ornament SAL for this month.  It is a freebie from a French blog, Le blog de Vava.  I'm stitching it on perforated paper with DMC gold metallic 5282 with the word "Noel" in white DMC.

Boule Bordeaux update #2
I am using a variegated red J&P Coats floss for the top and bottom.  It's not turning out exactly how I planned (LOL) but I'll try a different method for the bottom half.  I bought a piece of red felt with an adhesive back to put on the back of this ornament.
Boule Bordeaux update #3
I was a lucky winner of a Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe giveaway!  Nancy sent me five 20-yard skeins of over-dyed floss.  She is having another giveaway on April 15.  You can enter HERE and tell her that I sent you!

I was also a lucky winner of DMC linen floss from Brenda in her "From My Horde to Yours Giveaway" at The Dropped Thread!

I also bought the rest of the DMC floss at JoAnn's yesterday that I need for my next BAP.  Hint:  It's the big picture at the top of my blog!  Yes, that's actually a cross stitch chart called "We're Off to See the Wizard."  I had a coupon for 25% off my entire purchase, so the floss was only 29 cents each!  Here's what the chart looks like:

Stitching bears!

Linda and I have a new Monday SAL, The Bear and the Bees by The Prairie Schooler. We started this last February 2012 and haven't touched it again until now.  I stitched the bees last year and now I'm starting on the bear.
The Bear and the Bees update #1
I've also been stitching on some other WIPs with bears.  I started Bear Hug in 1988, when I bought the kit at a Creative Circle home party.  I'm going to donate this to World of Charity Stitching and they can sew it onto a pillow or tote bag.  It's a great charity to stitch for, since you don't have to wait for a quilt theme to stitch something.  They make all kinds of things with cross stitch designs.  I finished stitching the bears and now all that is left is the border.  It will be great to get this old one finished!
Bear Hug update #2
Picnic Area by The Prairie Schooler was started in the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge this year.  I stitched two more letters and started stitching a bear. There will be bears on both sides, and a fox chasing a rabbit on the bottom.
Picnic Area update #1
Bear in the Janlynn Wildlife Series was another start in the UCJC this year.  He got the rest of his nose done but still only has one eye!  I have other kits from this series that I will stitch some day.
Bear update #1
This was fun to have a "bear" theme on my blog post today.  I have more ideas for future blog post themes by grouping some of my WIPs together.  Happy Stitching, everyone!

Jolly Jack was a traveling pattern that I received from Denise and passed on to Nancy.

Cherry update #3
Starting on November 1, I'm going to click on the Random Number Generator to choose something different to stitch every day from my WIPocalypse page.  It will be a good warm-up for the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge 2013, when Linda and I will start something new every day in January (15 just isn't enough)!  Who is going to join us?

Cactus, Cherry, and BBQ Queen progress!

These three projects are coming right along!  The Christmas Cactus is waiting for the Christmas lights.
Christmas Cactus update #3
One of the cherries is coming to life.  Does it look real from a distance?
WOCS - Cherry update #2
I have started stitching the flag that says "Summer" on BBQ Queen.  There is still a lot of backstitching to do.
BBQ Queen update #20
Here is a peek into my everyday work situation!  I work at home on the company computer on the right, and my personal computer is on the left.  There is always a furbaby within arm's reach!

The brown tabby cat is Billy, 5 years old, the black and white tuxedo cat is Blueberrie, 9 years old, and the calico cat is Bubbles, 10 years old.  Teddy the Labrador Retriever/Mastiff mix is 2 years old.  Sophie the German Shepherd/Shetland Sheepdog is 10 years old and very camera shy.  She is best buddies with Billy the cat.  I wish I could get a picture of them playing together, but she always takes off when she sees the camera!

Who is peeking through the windows?

Halloween House update #22
It looks like more ghosts and an escaped convict! After the backstitching, you'll be able to see their faces even better.  I still have a lot of green roof to stitch!
Christmas Cactus update #2
I stitched the medium green around the cactus.  There will be more dark green on the edges, and then the Christmas lights and a star on top!
WOCS - Cherry update #1
Would you believe this Cherry has 14 different shades of pinks, reds, and oranges?  I hope this one really stands out on the Fruits & Berries quilt for World of Charity Stitching!

Nothing but green stitching last night!

I used the Random Number Generator to choose one of my 55 WIPs, which are all shown on my WIPocalypse page, and it came up with #24, Christmas Cactus.  I started this in January for the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge, when we started a new project every day in January.  You can see all the projects I chose to start in January on my UCJC page.
Christmas Cactus update #1
Don't you love the Bright Chartreuse on red Aida?  I'm going to use DMC Satin floss for the lights.  I found this free Christmas Cactus chart on an Italian website, http://www.il-mondo-di-ezechiele.com/

I also started a new square for World of Charity Stitching.  They are making a fruits and berries quilt.

I found this free chart on Ann's Cross Stitch Patterns in the Fruits category.

WIPocalypse update #7 and lots of SAL updates!

Trick or Treat update #14
I haven't touched this one in 3 months, so I finally made some progress on the purple hat.  After the hat is finished, I need to add the word "OR" and a few more spiderwebs and it will be done!  So it looks like this one will make it off my WIPocalypse page and onto the Finishes 2012 page pretty soon!  Be sure to check in on Measi's blog to post your WIPocalypse update, too.

I've had two finishes since the last WIPocalypse update.  French Country~Lark was stitched for a quilt for World of Charity Stitching.
French Country~Lark finished!
I made a small Harley-Davidson logo into a magnet for my dad (shown on his black refrigerator).
Harley-Davidson logo (small) finished!
On my Monday SAL with Linda of Cackle, I have started to stitch the letters in variegated dark violet floss.  It will say, "Cackle and the world cackles with you.  Shriek and you shriek alone."  I'm using hand-dyed lavender Aida from Stitchnmomma.
Cackle update #4
On my Wednesday SAL with Linda of Diane Arthurs' designs (she has Lady Liberty and I have BBQ Queen), I have almost finished stitching the apron.  It's a lot of white on white so the progress pic doesn't look very different from last time.
BBQ Queen update #13
On my Friday SAL of Halloween House with 10 other stitchers, I have added more pumpkins in front of the fence, but they still need backstitching before they look as cute as the others!
Halloween House update #17
On my Saturday SAL of Prairie Schooler monthly designs with Linda and Rosemary, I have stitched two more flowers on April.  I want to finish this one before I start on May, June, or July.
Spring & Fall - April update #5
Have a happy stitchy summer, everyone!

Santa's 12 Days of Christmas (Day 2) update #3
Santa has a face and a hat!  I went to Michael's and bought one skein of floss that I needed for the turtle doves' wings.  I'm so lucky to live so close to Michael's, JoAnn's, and Hobby Lobby if I ever need anything. It looks like I'll be doing lots of stitching in red, as Santa's coat reaches from neck to boots!
TUSAL #6
My jar full of ORTs is growing all year long!  Don't forget to check in on DaffyCat's blog and leave a link to your TUSAL posting, too!
