More framing finishes!

I am so happy to have these pieces framed in time for Halloween!  I provided the frames and my friend who works at a framing shop cut the mats and mounted them. Today, I found two more frames at a thrift store that will be perfect for some other finishes.  Stay tuned!

Day of the Dead from the Twisted Stitches book has bright blue and hot pink mats in a black & white 8x10 frame.  I love how she cut the corners!
Day of the Dead - framed!
Trick or Treat by Ursula Michael was a SAL I had with Linda last year.  She used purple, black, and orange mats in an 11x14 black frame.

Halloween House is another great design by Ursula Michael that Linda, Joyce, and I just finished. She used a black mat with an orange beveled edge in a 13x16 wood frame that I found at a thrift store.

BBQ Queen by Diane Arthurs was finished last year.  I framed her myself in a white 8x10 frame that I bought at a yard sale.

Happy Stitching, everyone!

WIPocalypse update #8 and LOTS of finishes!

I've had six finishes since the last WIPocalypse update!  I finished Cackle, Trick or Treat, Spring & Fall (April), Santa's 12 Days of Christmas (Day 2), a Butterfly ornament, and a long lost UFO from 1998!  Welcome Cottage was all stitched except for the word, "Welcome," which I finished and framed today.  The kit came with the printed mat.

I also added backstitching to Dog House Sampler, which I finished last year but I was never happy with it since the dog bone and fence blended into the fabric.  Now it's framed in a perfect blue and brown frame that I bought at a thrift store.

Two more finishes and TUSAL #7

I finally finished Trick or Treat, which was a SAL I started with Linda last year, but she finished hers way back in December!  I'm looking forward to getting this framed with several colorful mats.

I started the next month in the series, which will be a Robin Red Breast with blue and yellow flowers.  Linda, Rosemary, and I are stitching all 12 designs in the Spring & Fall and Summer & Winter booklets by The Prairie Schooler.  You can see what all the completed designs will look like on my UCJC page, #26.

This month, my ORT jar is posing with my Angels baseball bobbleheads!  Check in on Daffycat's blog for your TUSAL blog post, too!

WIPocalypse update #7 and lots of SAL updates!

Trick or Treat update #14
I haven't touched this one in 3 months, so I finally made some progress on the purple hat.  After the hat is finished, I need to add the word "OR" and a few more spiderwebs and it will be done!  So it looks like this one will make it off my WIPocalypse page and onto the Finishes 2012 page pretty soon!  Be sure to check in on Measi's blog to post your WIPocalypse update, too.

I've had two finishes since the last WIPocalypse update.  French Country~Lark was stitched for a quilt for World of Charity Stitching.
French Country~Lark finished!
I made a small Harley-Davidson logo into a magnet for my dad (shown on his black refrigerator).
Harley-Davidson logo (small) finished!
On my Monday SAL with Linda of Cackle, I have started to stitch the letters in variegated dark violet floss.  It will say, "Cackle and the world cackles with you.  Shriek and you shriek alone."  I'm using hand-dyed lavender Aida from Stitchnmomma.
Cackle update #4
On my Wednesday SAL with Linda of Diane Arthurs' designs (she has Lady Liberty and I have BBQ Queen), I have almost finished stitching the apron.  It's a lot of white on white so the progress pic doesn't look very different from last time.
BBQ Queen update #13
On my Friday SAL of Halloween House with 10 other stitchers, I have added more pumpkins in front of the fence, but they still need backstitching before they look as cute as the others!
Halloween House update #17
On my Saturday SAL of Prairie Schooler monthly designs with Linda and Rosemary, I have stitched two more flowers on April.  I want to finish this one before I start on May, June, or July.
Spring & Fall - April update #5
Have a happy stitchy summer, everyone!

WIPocalypse and SAL updates - lots of progress!

I saw a beautiful Full Moon the other night, which reminded me that it's time for the WIPocalypse update #4!  Check in on Measi's blog to share a link to your WIPocalypse update, too!  Are we getting closer to finishing all our cross stitch projects before the end of the world?

You can click on each photo to make it larger.  See my WIPocalypse page for current pics of all my projects.  Enjoy my updates!
Trick or Treat update #13
I added a spider, pumpkin, and started the purple hat on Trick or Treat.  I'm already imagining how it will look when framed with 2 or 3 different colored mats.
Harley-Davidson logo update #6
I added more black background behind the letters, but still have a lot more to go! I also need to finish all the orange X's, since they're only half-stitches right now.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles update #1
I started Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on day #10 of the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge.  I bought this chart from Wee Little Stitches.  One turtle down and three more to go!  It will be a gift for my son's 28th birthday.
BBQ Queen update #9
BBQ Queen has hot dogs on a BBQ now.  Maybe next week the flamingo and BBQ will have legs!
Halloween House update #11
More of the purple house and black fence were completed on Friday the 6th.  I didn't stitch anything on it last Friday the 30th.  You can see progress pics from everyone on the Halloween House SAL page on Linda's blog.

I bought all the cute Q-Snap covers from Christine's Q-Snap Huggies.  Be sure to tell her that I sent you!

WIPocalypse update #3

It's another Full Moon and time to check in for the WIPocalypse on Measi's blog!  Since my last check-in, I finished the Happy Easter Snow Globe and you can see a pic on my Finishes 2012 page.  I started a new cross stitch project for every day in January and February, and now I can give some attention to the pre-2012 cross stitch pieces!

Linda and I were having a SAL for Trick or Treat last year, and she finished hers, but I set mine aside to concentrate on stitching Christmas gifts.  This is where I left it in December 2011:
Trick or Treat update #11
And this is where it is today!
Trick or Treat update #12
Hopefully I will have it finished by the next WIPocalypse check-in!

I have also been stitching the black background for the Harley-Davidson logo.  I didn't finish it in time for Christmas, so I will also go back and make the orange stitches full crosses instead of half crosses (which I did to save time).  The free pattern is from battybat, and I bought the orange hand-dyed fabric from Stitchnmomma.
Harley-Davidson logo update #5
Please check out all my WIPs on my WIPocalypse page. I keep the most current updated pics there of every project I am working on.  Thanks for looking!

Christmas gift stitching and SAL update!

I stitched this ornament for my friend's husband.  I already made her the martini ornament a few days ago.  I bought lots of ornament kits from Janlynn a few months ago, with the plan to make them for my friends and family.  I also bought a lot of ornament kits from Linda.  This is the first year I will have cross stitched ornaments on my Christmas tree.

I didn't make much progress this week on Trick or Treat, just the outline of the letter R.  You can see Linda's progress HERE.  The reason why I didn't meet my goal of finishing all the letters this week is because I was stitching on two Christmas gifts for my son and his girlfriend.

My son has always had Nintendo or X-Box, but she uses the Sony PlayStation.  I will be glad to be done with all this gray and get back to something more colorful!

I am stitching this one for my son.  It is called Perpetual Mario.  The brothers, Mario and Luigi, are playing Nintendo, and the TV screen shows them playing Nintendo, and then another, and then another.  I thought my son would really get a kick out of it.  This is what the pattern looks like:

My cat usually sits next to me as I'm cross stitching, which gave Teddy a great idea! He climbed right up onto my lap!

Two finishes and two new starts!

I finished the Dog House Sampler one day early! I should have waited for our SAL day on Wednesday, but I was just so close to finishing that I couldn't wait. Now I can stitch on Trick or Treat on Wednesdays with Linda also. See her progress HERE.

I bought the kit for this cute little Martini ornament to make for my friend who always orders dirty martinis! I will send it to her with her other Christmas presents, since she lives in another state now.

I am making this for my son's girlfriend. I saw a pattern on spritestitch.com for a picture that says "Home is Where the (controller) Is" with a picture of an X-Box controller, or you can use an N64 or Super Nintendo controller.  But she plays video games with Sony Playstation instead, so I found a pattern with the PS3 controller and looked at pictures of the controller and made some changes to get it just right.  It is stitched on yellow 14ct Aida.

I am stitching this Harley-Davidson logo for my boyfriend for Christmas.  I will also put together a Harley-Davidson puzzle to go with it.  I got this free pattern from a French website HERE.  It is stitched on hand-dyed orange 14ct Aida.

I only got the letter "R" done on Trick or Treat this week!

All of the cute Q-Snap huggies are from Christine's Q-Snap Huggies.

Trick or Treat SAL - update #9

I made good progress on Trick or Treat!  Four more letters are all done, including the back-stitching.  Hopefully on the next update pic, the letters TR and TR will be done.  Then I'll finally get around to starting the purple hat!

Two finishes and two SAL updates!

Hurray!  I know it's creepy, but I cross stitched the Ant for my aunt!  (She collects them.)  Now I just have to find a frame.  I found this free pattern on http://cross-stitch-pattern.net/.

When I visit my aunt, I will also visit my grandma and give her this walker bag sewn by Dona with the finished Violets Teacup cross stitch that I made from a free pattern from Vermillion Stitchery.  There are four pockets in the front and two in the back and a big one in the center.  It hangs on the walker and the ties are attached at the sides.  I bought the purple roses fabric and purple corduroy at Jo-Ann's.  Dona sews a lot of these walker bags with cross stitch pieces made by members of World of Charity Stitching to donate to nursing home residents.

Now for the SAL updates!  Linda and I are stitching Dog House Sampler on Wednesdays.  I didn't make very much progress, only stitched the big dog bone.

This is update #8 on our Friday SAL of Trick or Treat by Ursula Michael.  I stitched the letter K and some spider webs.  Next week I plan to do a few more letters.  When we finish the Dog House Sampler, we will stitch Trick or Treat two days a week so we can finish it before January.  You can see Linda's progress HERE.

If you're interested in the Q-Snap huggies, I buy them from Christine's Q-Snap Huggies.  She sews them up in a jiffy!
