Oh, I'm so happy that I got to see
The Wizard of Oz at the IMAX theater in 3D last Friday. Can you believe it's the 75th anniversary of this wonderful movie? I was lucky enough to watch it at the IMAX for the 70th anniversary five years ago, but this time it was in 3D!
Next month, there will be a
Collector's Edition boxed set of DVDs that I have already asked my son to get me for Christmas! Last year, he bought me this wonderful
Wizard of Oz puzzle, but shame on me, I haven't started it yet.
So I've finally started stitching the picture you see at the top of my blog, "We're Off to See the Wizard." I bought this chart on eBay from
Keenah's Cross Stitch. It is 15 pages.

I'm starting in the center because I want to get up to Dorothy's face. I don't think I'd have the patience to stitch all the green trees, grass, and sky first. My starting point is somewhere in her dress. I'm stitching full crosses on 18 ct off-white Aida. There are 96 colors and the finished size will be 16.67" x 12".

Congrats on the new start Debbie. ALMOST makes me want to start one of the Disney Kinkade kits that I have.

I am loving the colors so far. Going love to see this come together.
Great new start:)
This will definitely be a fun one to watch grow. It reminds me of my HAEDs.
Looking forward to watching the progress on this....
Great new start Debbie. Looking forward to seeing the progress.
Hi all! I am kind of new to cross stitch and I'm loving it. I'm sure you have been asked this a million times, but why leave the different threads in the fabric like that? Does it help with something?
Again, I'm a newbie. Thank you!
Heather, you have noreply-comment so I can't answer your question by email. Here is a guide about parking: http://www.scarletquince.com/parking.php
If there are lots of color changes, you stitch all the same colors in a row, then go down to the next square where that color will be and "park" the thread in the lower left corner. Then you stitch the next color in the row and park it below where the next stitch will be. This way there aren't any empty spots to fill in. This is my first time trying this method.
That will be great piece Debbie - I would have started on Dorothy too. Good luck with your Oz :-)
Love your new start. It's very interesting to see a start from the centre. Looking forward to seeing it grow :) xxx
Congrats on a beautiful new start.
love Annette
WOW!!!!! This will look stunning when finished!! I wish you good luck with this :)
This is going to be an amazing stitch and will really look forward to seeing your progress as it's my favourite film.
Wow this is a big start, but will be watching your blog for updates!
Happy Stitching
Denise
So looking forward to your updates on the Wizard, and I am very interested in your experiences with parking.
Love your slide shows on your earlier posts. Your blog as always is a MUST READ
Great new start
What a brilliant new start! Can't wait see your progress on it.
Looking forward to watching this one grow, it'll be nice to try and see where you are matching it with your header picture. Follow the yellow brick road ... la la la la... that'll be in my head all day now lol.
Thanks for the 'parking' link, just read it and it sounds great and sensible too.
I've also never seen "parking" before and I'm having a super huge 'duh' moment here. What a great idea. Gotta go check that link right now....
