World of Charity Stitching

I just discovered World of Charity Stitching! This is a great group that makes cross stitch quilts, bookmarks, greeting cards, tote bags, walker bags and more for children in need and the elderly in nursing homes. At the present time, they are donating stitched items to a nursing home, a domestic violence shelter, and to the Ronald McDonald House.

If you enjoy cross stitching or quilting and would like to use your talents to bring cheer and comfort to children and adults at a stressful time in their lives, they could use your help. Visit their Yahoo Group and join us to bring a smile to the face of someone in need.

Lamplight Bridge - update #2

I finished stitching the grass, ducks, and rocks in the left bottom corner. I did some of the water, too. There is tweeding of colors with metallic floss that really makes it sparkle! I'm excited to see how pretty this will turn out.

My next goal is to finish all the water in the stream and the rowboat. Then I will start the grass on the right side of the picture.

Lamplight Bridge - update #1

Tonight I stitched lots of French knots in blues and lavenders in the lower left corner of the picture. My next goal is to stitch and outline the ducks and rocks near the stream.

I'm already thinking about colors of the mats when I get this framed! I wonder how much it will cost.

Lamplight Bridge - new start!

My new start is Thomas Kinkade's Lamplight Bridge. This is an embellished cross stitch picture. It is mostly half-stitches and French knots. I have stitched 4 shades of green in the left lower corner. French knots on the flowers will come next.

This is one of my kits for the Crazy January Challenge, but I had only sorted the floss back in January and didn't start stitching it until now, since I didn't have the right scroll frame or Q-snaps for it.

I ordered several sizes of Q-snaps from stitch-r-stuff.com last Thursday and they arrived on Monday! I compared prices on many other websites, and they had the best deals. I am using 14x17 for this one, and 11x17 for A Paris Kiss. I really love how nice and tight they keep the fabric.

I am stitching this one for ME!

A Paris Kiss update #4

Just a little more done on the man's clothes since last week. I always hurry and hide this as soon as my daughter comes home from work. She knows I'm stitching something for her birthday, but wants it to be a complete surprise!

Tree With Gifts - finished!

This is my second Christmas ornament from the Crazy January Challenge. I love the red beads on the tree! This was fun and easy to stitch. The kit came with the house-shaped frame.

This was designed by Sally Townsend for The New Berlin Co.

Hen on Nest - finished!

I finished another kit from my Crazy January Challenge! It came with this frame, but it's not mounted yet, in case my mom would rather have it in an 8x10 frame with a mat. This is not supposed to look like an actual chicken, but rather one of those glass hen candy dishes. My mom has one in an orange-brown glass color. She will probably display it next to this picture in her dining room.

A Paris Kiss update #3

I've been stitching the man's clothes. There is so much brown, brown, brown. I think this weekend I will work on something more colorful from the Crazy January Challenge. After all, my daughter's birthday isn't until August, so I think I'm making OK progress on this one. I love how realistic it looks!
