Day #19 of the Ultimate Crazy January Challenge is
Disney Princesses by Wee Little Stitches. Have you seen all 11 of these movies? I haven't seen the last 4. Jasmine from "Aladdin" is finished. I'm stitching on pink cotton candy opalescent 14 ct Aida and it will be about 11" x 3".

Here is another Disney Princess design that I started in 2012. Today I stitched more of Cinderella's skin and gloves.

Disney Princess Birth Announcement update #6 |
Happy Stitching, everyone!
Another cute start Debbie. I really don't know how many of those movies I've seen. I'm sure most of them. Love the birth announcement Princess.

I also really like cloudsfactory on Etsy for weeble-like Disney designs too. You should check them out! More great starts!
ReplyDeleteAs far as Disney Princesses, Asper-girl/Disney purist coming through...
Tangled is one of the best princess movies since Sleeping Beauty (from an artist's standpoint). You really should check it out!
I rebelled against the "computer-generated" animation field for years (but have since come to "appreciate" Beauty & The Beast, Little Mermaid, etc as part of the Disney cannon, but I still can't say out loud that I "like" them). I will pull out the originals (by that I mean the holy trinity of Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Cinderella) and watch over and over again, but Tangled is the only one of the new generation that will get pulled out with them. I have seen the "new generation" less than a handful of times and usually for the benefit of others. I can honestly say I've never gone home and "wanted" to watch Pocahontas (can't Disney at least TRY to be historically accurate?) or Mulan (whose only great attribute is the character of Mushu) or even Beauty And The Beast (the story and music are outstanding, but the animation is rushed and crossing formats with hand-drawn and computer generated, i.e. the ballroom scene, just hurts my eyes).
I haven't seen Frozen yet, but after the disappointment of Brave, I'm not counting my chickens and, come on, what a great opportunity that was...a Scottish Disney Princess! How in Hades could they screw that up? Well, they did, although her triplet brothers add the only chuckles the movie gave me.
The Princess and the Frog was a pretty good storyline and amazing music, but it was the first time, even by the end of the movie, that I can say that I really didn't like Tiana's prince, Naveen. And what girl doesn't like a Disney prince? Bad character development, I'd guess is the culprit.
There is one notable exception to the first "new generation" of Disney movies besides Tangled (which I guess should be considered the "new-new generation" since it's post-Pixar merge), and that is Hercules, simply because of the drawing techniques and that fact that Hades is one of the great "unappreciated" villains of all...surpassing the entire storyline of the movie. Megara should also have her place alongside the other Disney Princesses, but she and Hades are somehow always sadly forgotten (and making their collectibles cost a friggin fortune!). Megara was the first Disney Princess I actually associated with! She has attitude and sass and not a high opinion of men (although she got a "good one" in the end).
Soapbox dismount...the entire point of which was, well, I'm not sure, I got lost in my ramblings, but Tangled is worth watching, if not the other three!
My girls would love this one.
ReplyDeleteI love the Disney Princesses. You have a great start. I have seen all of them except the new one, Frozen. I love the Cinderella too.
ReplyDeleteAdorable pieces. No I'm way behind on my princesses. When we went to Disney I was talking to these two little girls that were dressed up. I totally guessed wrong who they were supposed to be haha. Totally showed my age. Plus I have a son so we don't watch that we watch Star Wars haha.
ReplyDeleteOH. MY. GOSH. Love it, love it!
ReplyDeleteI think the only ones I haven't seen are Brave and Princess and Frog, although I don't think I've seen Mulan all in one go. Tangled is fantastic, it feels like going back to more traditional Disney again!
ReplyDeleteLove this design and generally loving watching your progress on all of your starts!
great start :) i've watched them all hehe!
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter loves Ariel The Little Mermaid best but I don't think she counts as a princess, my favourite Disney film is Pocahontas.
